At what crucial time did our church change its form
And become more a structure than Christians?
And when did the Church, as a people become
Congregationalists and politicians?
The counting of pennies, success measured thus;
The Love drowned by noise of complainers;
Focused not on the Word, God, nor love, nor pure Love,
But machinery crunching the numbers?
I do not quite recall the Lord calling us all
To be denominational puppets.
To gather, oh yes, as believers in Him
In a church to His Glory and concepts.
We are all on a walk, with a lifetime to learn
Each one striding at differing paces;
Understanding this fact, can we not interact
Utilizing His love and His Graces?
The structure of church seems to breed in its ground
Many bones of contention and discord.
I suggest that perhaps we have veered off the Path
And we must be completely above board.
For God is our Father and Love is His Essence,
He gave us instructions to follow,
Let us not fall as prey to the world of today
Making noises of faith which are hollow.
For where will it end if we don’t change at all?
Will our Father say to us “Well done!”?
Or will He instead shake His Glorious head
And ask, “Why then did I give My Son?”
Let’s put our Lord first in each thing that we do,
Let’s not poison our faith in said manner;
Not by acts, nor by thoughts, nor by words best forgot.
Let the Church raise the church as a banner!
