Cremation

Debbie: My mother insisted (on more than one occasion) that she NOT be cremated and I honored that wish because I respected her decision whether I agreed with it or not (that was not what was importa…

Raymond Brown said: "If Jesus were to return to earth, the first thing we would do is crucify him again." Agree? Disagree? Why?

Agreed. That is one thing I stress to my students. We have been blessed with safety to worship. With safety, complacency can creep in, and we cannot afford to let that happen. The day may come when w…

Prayer Never Ends

I Thessalonians 5:17 reminds us to "pray without ceasing". So, while we are here on the Earth, prayer is a vital part of the believer's way of life. I am of the opinion that once we get to heaven the…

Raymond Brown said: "If Jesus were to return to earth, the first thing we would do is crucify him again." Agree? Disagree? Why?

I am going to have to qualify my answer. If Jesus were to return to Earth and "we (mankind) had our way, we (again, mankind) in all likelihood would crucify Him again". That said, when He does return…

Three Grandmothers?

1 Corinthians 1:25 (ASV)
Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

My cousin's grandmother was truly a wonderful and loving woman.

We often saw her at family functions and occasionally we made the seventeen mile trip just to visit with her.

Why is There Only One Way?

John 14:6 (NET)
Jesus replied, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

A few years ago, I got caught up in the Sudoku craze when it was at its peak of popularity.

I enjoyed them because they were a kind of puzzle that relied solely on reasoning to solve.

She's His Daughter, Too

2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV)
Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort; who comforted us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

Several years ago, I wa… Continue

A Look That Said It All

Romans 14:10 (KJV)
But why dost thou judge thy brother? Or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.

Celebrating Dependence Day

Psalm 5:11 (KJV)
But let all those that put their trust in Thee rejoice; let them ever shout for joy, because Thou defendest them; let them also that love Thy name be joyful in Thee.

In America, we recently celebrated the Fourth of July. That is what it has come to be known. It's official name is Independence Day.

_A Thirsty World_

John 4:13-14 (NIV)
Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed the water I give him will
become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

Thanks. It's a mixture of good & bad days. My Mom is progressing in her dementia - particularly the paranoia. But God is giving me strength every day to do what needs doing. The rest is in His hands. I'm just glad for a God who loves me that much & for His giving me many friends that I can lean on.
