A Visitor Opens A Little Girl's Eyes

Several weeks ago, my sister and her family had visitor. A woman knocked on their door, asking if they had any work for her. Due to injuries she hadn't been able to provide for her kids, so she was going door to door looking for work. Well, my sister didn't have any work for her, but my seven-year-old niece's heart was broken by this woman's plight, and she asked her mom if she could give the money in her piggy bank to this woman. And then my younger niece wanted to give her piggy bank money…

Out of a Wheelchair

In 2003, I moved to San Marcos, Texas to finish my undergraduate work at Texas State University- San Marcos to become a teacher and coach. I was in my junior year of college on March 11, 2005 and it was the Friday we got out for spring break. I was traveling the backroads of Buda, Texas, on a two lane road when I stopped my car in the right hand lane, waiting on oncoming traffic so that I could make a left hand turn into the neighborhood I was traveling to. Behind me was a single…

Offering a New Home

It was an extremely hot August day in 2006, I was diligently working when my phone rang. A caller on the line identified herself as a Child Protective Service worker and asked if I was related to two girls by the names of Molly and Maggie. I said yes, and stammering asked how I could help her. She went on to tell me that the girls were most likely going to be moved into foster care in the next few days. These…

Turning Myself In Was The Best Decision

I hope this story is as good to hear as it is to tell. For years, I was on the run from the law. I wasn't a violent offender, but I was a convict none-the-less (fraud). After a number of years on the run for absconding from my parole, I came to Christ. My late Uncle Ronnie was my pastor and opened up his heart and his church to me. In a brief period of time, I became the church pianist and Bible Study teacher. Everything was going fine for me, and the whole family was amazed at the change in… Continue

There is always a broken heart in a foster child that comes from not being able to live with one's real parents and only God can deal with and heal that broken heart. It sounds to me like these foster parents who are related, didn't…

Colleen,   Thank you so much for sharing such and inspiring story.  I praise God that your nieces have you and Rick.  I think about how many children don't have that kind of love and support and reading your story renews my faith…

Amen Angela!  And don't you find you understand the Bible so much better when you teach God's words, God's stories to children?  There is nothing like drama to bring them to life!

Outreach Cookout For The Community

We just had our last community cookout for the year. Our church and fellow Christians have been putting on a community cookout on Sunday evenings. We give out hot dogs, chips, soda, cookies and clothing. We bring the Word to those who might not know and we sing and praise the Lord with worship music while serving. it is an awesome experience and we are only limited by the weather since we don't have a permanent building to have the outreach in. I cant wait for spring so we can continue.Missy A.See More

My Grandmother Is Outliving Her Life

I was raised by my grandma, along with my two older sisters. When I was 17-months-old my younger sister was killed and both of my parents left us three girls. One day they were there and the next they were gone. The state wanted to place us three into a group home. My grandma could not imagine this happening. She was sixty years old when she went to court to fight for "her three girls." The judge told her she was too old to raise such young kids and she made it very clear to him that no one…See More
