I told my husband of almost 22 years last night that if anything were to happen to him (God forbid!!) I would not remarry because there simply is no one else who would put up with me! Of course, I did not phrase it quite like that for him.....I told him that I would never remarry because I wouldn't have the time or patience to break someone in the way I have him. :)
Marriage is a wonderful partnership, friendship, and love affair that has ups and downs and twists and turns, but in the end is a bond, a union, that God created so that we would always have someone there to lean on, talk to, share with, love.

HI Nathan,

I did read Robin's article. I liked it. And you're right, it's all about marrriage! Thanks for thinking of our group!

Hi guys

I just wanted to point you towards, what I believe, is an excellent article written by a member of the Max Lucado Community. It's on a new blog called Faithful Feet which I have set up with 8 other members of the MLC.

The blog is called "that little word submission" and is very thought provoking.

I know this group has gotten a little slow in posting. We are still here. Thank you Kate for your observation. I enjoyed it. I just was hoping that someone would hop in and say it. You are absolutely right! Marriage is all about falling in love all over again!!

With all the many things that are going on in life, our families and so forth, putting first things first is essential. Here's a prayer today that God will meet you where you are. If you want to talk here.. or in some other group. I see most of them now. Just let us know somehow if you need prayer or someone to just hang with you. You matter!

I was watching a movie the other night, and an argument began between an adult brother and sister, about the brothers wife, and how she wasn't so great for whatever reason and he should leave her, etc. His reaction to these comments about his wife was great. He said "That's obviously coming from someone who is NOT married. Marriage is about being in love, and then having differences, and arguments and wanting to get away from that person......but then falling in love all over again." He hit the nail right on the head!!!

Thanks Kate! One of the reasons I was researching this was that my children saw a very ugly scene near Christmas time, totally unappropriate. Rather than talk about what was WRONG, we made a decision to reinforce what is RIGHT. I love how you have found niches where the strengths can be celebrated. I also appreciate that you think it is fair - another important thought about power-sharing. I loved everything you wrote!

Great topic Juline............power sharing in my marriage......let's see....I think it mostly comes down to the decisions we have made and continue to make regarding the children. We have very similar feelings on what they should be allowed to do and not allowed to do, so that's very helpful, but over the years it has fallen to me usually to make the "final" decisions, lol, I think because I am a stronger parent. That's not to say I'm a better parent, just a little stronger in the disciplinarian department. My husband can be swayed by them, lol, he's a mush, and he knows it!! I have always been good at seeing the big picture and where decisions might lead them eventually.
As far as other power sharing areas, he actually holds the power in certain aspects, when we will spend money on a big purchase, etc. I don't know how that happened but it has. Perhaps, and I'm really glad he's not on this posting as I type this, but perhaps I tend to be more a spender than he. (confession is good for the soul right???) lol So he holds the power there because I let him! Yes that makes me feel better phrasing it like that.
As the years go on you will all find that the power needs to be shared, but not necessarily shared for each task. By shared I mean you will hold the power in certain areas, and he will in others. Each person's strengths become evident eventually!!!!

Going into the weekend, I think we need a new topic. Thank you Kate and Haelie and anyone else who prayed for us! Hmm.. something interesting....How about how do you share power in your marriage. Wait. Better yet. What are healthy power sharing habits?

Ooops, I almost forgot the most important thing! Juline, really really happy your husband is on the mend. I'm sure it's in no small measure do to his loving wife!!
