Meeting this lady in the elevator was amazing. In the two seconds that it took her to take a spot next to me, you could clearly see that she was a seamstress and her origins were from India. Literally in the minute it took to us to travel three floors up, we struck up a conversation. Learning that she is heading back to India at the end of the month after living her seven years as her work visa ends (she lost her job), the wheels in my mind began to turn. Wow! Life starts and stops on a dime.
The question "Does anyone dare despise the day of small beginnings?" was asked when the temple was being rebuilt. God sent that question through the prophet Zechariah. There are many days where I feel small. This question gives me a divine poke. "Hey! " Looking around, I find these perfectly executed small miracles.
The lady in the elevator offered me a lot of her sewing materials in two weeks. I love to sew. That was one of them. Here's another one. My oldest daughter just decided to do the right thing after weeks of stonewalling me. She just went and did what I wanted her to do without a word. The smile that we exchanged was perfect. Finding the birthday book of the beloved series that had been misplaced for the last two weeks felt great. An old pot had some dried up bulbs and one plucky weed in it. Feeling sorry for the weed, I had gone ahead and watered it. Spring came, the bulbs revealed that they were still alive. After weeks of bouncing around with my weight, I can fit into a whole size smaller - just in time to wear a bunch of cute clothes in the back of my closet.
The micro miracles aren't big enough for anyone else to notice. I'm the only one who was paying any attention to that plant, for example. The thought leapt up. If God knows I need these small things, what has He decided to do about the massive things that confront me?
I'll let you know what happens....

Juline,
Your post brought a smile to my face and got me thinking about the verse "Consider the lilies of the field . . . " Thanks for reminding me to celelbrate those miracle moments.
Blessings,
Rose
