Hello community,

Realize my posting did not happen on the day promised.  One of those life quirks called a sprained right wrist came onto the scene, making it difficult to type.  Thanks for your patience.

Hello!!!

Have any of you taken the spiritual gifts inventory and have results to share?

My results showed pastor/shepherding and showing mercy as my strong areas again, but this time with a higher point value on each. The surprise is that prophesy was higher than before.

Please share what you discovered if you are comfortable doing so.

Blessings,

Rose

Re you interested in learning what your spiritual gifts are? In addition to Donna Wilcher's group, you can take a free inventory at http://www.churchgrowth.org/ that will identify them and explain them in more detail. Will share mine in a future post and encourage everyone to take a few minutes and complete the survey. I am still surprised by the results and even more so looking at them a year later.

God's blessings,

Rose

Jim,

Thanks for sharing your comments on prayer and stepping out in faith. I have had pastors that wouldn't have moved out of their comfort zone and tackled the topic, and am extremely blessed now to have a pastor that challenges us to do so. For the skeptics who challenge my beliefs as fantasy, I asked them if they've ever experienced fear and/or love in their lives. They will admit they have, and I can take their logic and remind them they can't see or touch those yet they accept them as real, so why can't they do the same about God and his presence in our lives???
You are right that one answer is prayer. My prayer is that they will open their hearts to the presence of God in their lives and allow him to lead them and love them.
God's blessings,
Rose

I think that part of the problem that people have with being a christian and having a stronge faith is that God never said it was going to be easy to take up our cross and follow in his foot steps.

I think typically most human beings like to be comfortable in thier everyday lives. People tend to feel safe when they are comfortable.

You take a pastor and have him preach more often about stepping out of that comfort zone and you might as well ask someone to walk out on pond in the winter time that only has very thin layor of ice on it, it's not going to happen.

People have been told all there lives that if you can't see it, you can't hear it or you can't touch it, it don't exist. So the question we need to figure out is how do you convience a nonbelieve and/or and person that is on the fence about their beliefs that God does infact exist and that we can safely step out of our their imaginary force fields and God will keep us safe.

I think one solution is Prayer!!!!!

9 “So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 10 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.

11 “Which of you fathers, if your son asks for a fish, will give him a snake instead? 12 Or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion? 13 If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!”    (Luke 11:9-12  NIV)

and how do we ask to receive something from God? Pray and then pray again and don't stop praying.

Hello and God bless you all for the prayers and words of support.

Would like to hear your thoughts about the best way to discern your spiritual gifts.  Have you taken an inventory?  Were you surprised by the results?  Have your gifts changed over time?

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

In Christ, Rose
