Are WE Too Comfortable?
I was just reading some alarming statistics about the Church of God, that I wanted to share.
A survey of thousands of believers had the following results:
70% believe that “God is the all-powerful, all-knowing, perfect creator of the universe who rules the world today.”
66% believe that the “single, most important purpose of your life is to love God with all your heart, mind, strength and soul
Here is the alarming part. Only 34% feel that they “have personal responsibility to tell others your religious beliefs”
The study goes on to conclude that “The typical churched believer will die without leading a single person to a lifesaving knowledge of and relationship with Jesus Christ.”
Why is the body of Christ becoming so neglectful in our responsibility to share the gospel?
My church feeds the homeless community in my area during the week. I have been going there and trying to provide spiritual food by witnessing & ministering to those who come there for physical food. The results have been very good so far. I’m sharing this because I want to ask a potentially uncomfortable question. How are WE (those on this community) trying to advance the kingdom of God by sharing our faith with others? Is it difficult and if so why? I’m praying that we can support one another in trying to encourage effective evangelism.

I foster in Ukraine which is a new concept here so people ask me why. Great opening to start telling them of the Lord's blessings and salvation. People in the village know they can come to me for Bibles in Russian or Ukrainian and I will also answer any questions they have with out judging.

And there are many who will never know who or how many lives there own has touched for Christ until we reach the other shore. It's not for us to know and glorify in ourselves when being a witness for Christ, but to Him be the glory forever and ever. Amen! We plant the seed and Jesus nurtures it to fullest maturity. He's the only one who can save someone from the sins of this world anyway.

There are many people around this nation and this world who have become a little bit too complacent and comfortable for God's own good that He cannot do anything through them. It is my humble opinion that He has allowed such tragedy and economic setback to befall us for the purpose of teaching us to rely totally on Him and not on the things of this material world. I sincerely hope that many people who profess Jesus Christ in their lives will remember this and come back to the Father to ask "what would You have me to do, LORD?" Not, "what will You do for me today?"
Complacency and comfort are both killers of Christianity and only serve to put one more nail in the hands and feet of Christ.
Are we relying on the "plastic Jesus" the world has created over the generations, or are we totally trusting and relying on the "real Jesus" who stretched out His arms to die for our sins and take upon Himself our punishment that we might know Him and be joint heirs with Him in His Fathers Kingdom? Too many people go the way of the "plastic Jesus" in our modern Christian churches that we have sided with the world in listening to a watered down version of His word to hopefully NOT offend someone or bother them with the Christian faith in truth and Spirit. Being "politically correct" has definitely entered the church as we race headlong into the pit of Hell itself taking as many others as possible with us along the way. After all, each new generation creates its own version of the Bible that gets watered down more and more until we've recreated Christ in our image instead of us in His the way it was in the beginning.
Too often we place God in a convenient little box that we only open on holidays, special occasions, and in extreme emergencies or at natural or man-made disasters of epic proportions, and when it has all blown over, we place Him back in that convenient little box until the next time. What a tragic way to be in our "walk with Christ." -
