I just attended a Remembrance Celebration at work, honoring the veterans employed by the company. I am not ashamed to admit that I cried during TAPS, as it has been 7 years since I lost my dad. But I wanted to put out here - THANK YOU to all vets, past and present, for your sacrifice and willingness to put your lives not only on hold, but on the line for my freedom. It is not free. It is also not ever to be taken for granted. Thank you! And Lem, really missing you! Are you active again?

Lem, It has been quite some time since we hav seen you out here. If you are deployed, I pray for your safety and peace of mind. If not, please check in and let us know how you are?

It is another holiday in which we need to give great thanks to God for this country and all those who have fought or are fighting for our freedom!

Thank you Tami. Every time new troops roll in it seems like they're younger than the ones before...or maybe I'm just getting old :) On a serious note, I thank them (my brothers/sisters) for their bravery and dedication. I also thank our families, friends and YOU for supporting us and keeping us in your prayers. GOD is great and I thank him most for his mercy/LOVE.

Have a wonderful/save weekend! ...please tell the cook not to burn the burgers! :)

I want to thank all those that have been, are, or are getting ready to put their lives on the line, especially this weekend. Now is the time to really remember what our soldiers have provided to us. My dad fought for freedom, maybe not ours, be for freedom to enjoy what we enjoy, and died because of that service. We need to remember all those and thank them, and thank God that we have people like these that will help to protect our ability to keep worshipping Him!

I'm a little late but I wanted to welcome you Caryn...haven't really had the chance to get on the internet.

Caryn, it must be hard really hard for you not having you daughter around and specially now that she is going to Cuba. It's not like you can just hop on to the next plane and visit your daughter. Just remember that you're never alone with GOD on your side. Like Joyce metioned, technology now is making it so easier for us. Skype is wonderful. My wife and I have twins and through skype, I get to see them constantly even when I'm over six thousand miles away.

I'm the youngest of six and it broke my mom's heart when I moved out to join the military. It was tough for me as well but GOD was great and he helped us through it all. I'm a better person and I learned to take care of myself. If I hadn't joined I'd probably still be living with my parents... :)

Please keep your head up Caryn b/c, "all things work together for good for those who love GOD".

Joyce, I'm still praying for your childrent. I hope things are getting better for them.

Take care.

Hi Caryn! I'm sure you must be very proud of your daughter! I'm sorry, though, that being alone has been difficult for you. But, isn't it great that we can use cell phones, e-mail, FB, Skype, etc to keep in touch with our loved ones? I can't imagine not being able to talk to my daughter and son in law in Germany. Blessings to you!

Hi, I'm Caryn, My daughter is in the Navy, right now stationed in San Diego, it looks like she will be heading to Cuba for about a year. Her husband is in the enlistment process now. I miss her terribly, I'm a single mom and it has always been just she and me. These past almost 2 years have been very hard. But, I am so very proud of her and my son in law. I also have a nephew in the Navy and a brother who has been in the Navy 23 years. God bless all of our service men and women.

Thank you for praying for my son in law and daughter!
The update: He recently saw the optometrist who found "something" in the exam and thinks he should be seen at Walter Reed Hospital. He's also seeing the PT who has him doing some kind of eye and balance exercise which he's not very good at ...yet! And, the headaches continue... His commander is still not treating him very well, but I know God is at work and is faithful.
Sherri - I'll leave a message on your profile. Thanks for the suggestions!
