Today at Church the pastor asked us: do we go to the tomb to meet Jesus or do we go to Galilee? He talked about the women expecting to find Jesus'  body at the tomb - ie a dead Jesus - and the instruction that He would see them in Galilee - the living Jesus. He drew a parallel between this and whether we as Christians, are stagnant and not progressing in our faith (Jesus in the tomb) or whether we are growing as Christians and keeping our faith alive and growing (Jesus in Galilee).

It reminded me of a question I was asked some years ago, as to which act of Jesus was the most important for our salvation, His death or His resurrection. I couldn't even begin to answer it at the time, and it took me some reflection before I worked out why. The two aspects of Easter CANNOT be separated like that. It's all part of the same act of salvation, two sides of the coin, if you like.

So maybe that's the problem - maybe we stop at the cross, or at the tomb, and forget to wait for the stone to be rolled away. Maybe we're stuck on Friday and can't find our way through to Sunday. Maybe our small human minds try to compartmentalise God in order to understand Him, rather than trying to accept Him in entirety.

It's a reminder for me this Easter, to remember that God sacrificed and redeemed, so that I can die to sin and live again in Him.

Have a blessed Easter, everyone.

Thanks Ronny. It's important to know that there'll never be a resurrection without a dying , and that Jesus's death was the culmination of the work of our salvation - hence the reason for His saying IT IS FINISHED just before giving up the ghost. It was then He fulfilled His lifetime mission. Resurrection on the other hand proved His Lordship and superiority to other forms of sacrifices ever made before. After resurrection Jesus said, ALL POWER IN HEAVEN AND ON EARTH HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO ME.

Our duty today is to live in reality of victory which was won by both the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Do have a lovely Easter, now and ever.

I was thinking that you can't have one without the other, before I saw that you see it that way too.  As for, do I go to the tomb or to Galilee, my answer is neither, I do to him where he is, which is here, there and everywhere.

Ronny,

Thanks for the discussion.  Won't repeat what's already been said, but am rejoicing that God gives second chances. I'm humbled by the gift of eternal life he gave us.

Have a blessed Easter.
