It's always so good to find people who help me understand the truth of 1 Corinthians 10:13. No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Worry is a sin and I am tempted by it often. Realizing through friends like all of you that it isn't something that only I deal with but is "common to man" helps me to keep it in perspective. I only worry when I start trying to impose MY timeline on a situation instead of trusting in God's PERFECT TIMING. Remembering that He is ALWAYS faithful shouldn't be hard, but sometimes I do act like this may be the one time He won't be. Our minds play some ridiculous tricks on us sometimes and all we can do is continue insisting that they focus on what we know....He is perfectly and completely faithful to meet our every need.

Oh, do I understand what you mean by "Martha" and "Mary" type personalities! I also am a Martha and a worrywart. I am trying to lesson the garbage in my life and find some centering.

This is exactly how I feel. I have done so much to complicate my life and God just recently has pulled the rug from under me and stressed the importance of being still and knowing He is God. I am a big "Martha" type person and need to balance it out with a little "Mary" sitting and listening and learning. Thanks for starting this group and I look forward to learning from each other.

I can truly see that chaos and disorder in my life are caused by self-obsession and fear. "Back to Basics", I really like that! Worrying is my worst vice.... I worry about everything and more often than not, I make decisions out of fear that I regret later. I want to move forward with my relationship with God. Getting back to basics, simply doing the next right thing or nothing at all if I am unsure is where I am starting.

I am slowly learning that most of the complications in my life are self-created. I am working hard now to identify ways to "purify" my day-to-day and get rid of habits, routines, thought processes, etc. that are not truly beneficial. I believe this is absolutely in line with God's plan for all of us. I guess my new "scale" is, "does it glorify God and will it create in me a closer resemblance to Jesus?"

Amazingly, those two simple questions clarify a lot of things that I had previously considered to be gray areas. Apparently, they were only gray because I WANTED them to be so. In truth, I was being indulgent and "allowing" myself choices that were self-serving.

This new approach is having am impact on almost every area of my life. From the choices I make regarding my health, to the tv I watch, to the activities I do with my family, to the fellowship I seek at church and in my day to day life...everything looks a bit different now.

There is immense freedom in submission. I pray daily for a submissive spirit so that God is free to truly work his will in my life.

I have always been able to say no to a lot of things but now i understand that the word NO is an anointed word and when you are honest with yourself about the things and the people in your life, getrid of those toxic relationships with people who only want to use you and the gifts and talents God has placed inside of you for their own personal gain and use. Being delivered from people and following God's Word about separating yourself from people especially those who don't follow God's Word or those that have a disobedient spirit. And a full understanding that there is only one true balance in life and that is the balance in Christ Jesus and not this world, true freedom is when you are free in Christ and it does not compromise the Word of God. Balance says that i can live an abundant life in Christ free from sin. This is only accomplished with and through thepower of the Holy Spirit because God's Word says, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty."
