As of today I am the youth director at my church. I have been preparing for this for quite a while. I am looking for any advice that might be helpful as I approach this task. Thank you & God Bless.

Hi Ron

Congratulations!! I'm not sure I have any wisdom to pass on to you that you don't already know. I was a student Pastor many moons ago, I was out of my depth and didn't do the greatest of jobs. The one thing that being out of your depth teaches you is to rely on God. I learnt that it is my responsibility to do what God asks of me and to trust Him for the rest. We can't make young people believe or do the right things - if we think we can we are going to burn out try!! We need to entrust them to God and pray!!! You need others praying for you and for those in your care. You need a solid vision and a strategy to achieve that vision. You need someone to be accountable to. And on top of all of that you need more energy than a nuclear missile and more days in the week than there are weeks in the year!!! lol If you can achieve all that you'll be just fine!! My prayers are with you.
Congratulations, Ron! You are on a wonderful and challenging journey! The main point I would suggest is ensuring that God is the bread, the wine, and the life of ALL you do and say. As Nathan noted, a strategy is critical and starting with prayer warriers and intercessors will serve you well. At our church we have youth intercessors whose sole position is to pray during the youth meetings. God is blessing our church in many ways, and it is through prayer and fasting that this is being acheived. God bless you, Ron. "Trust in the Lord with all your heart...lean not on your own understanding...in all your ways, achnowledge Him, and He will direct your path." Thank you, Jesus for the strength and understanding that comes with your Word!

Congratulations! Advice? Listen...Listen...Listen..The holy Spirit will guide you!
Hi Ron, may the Lord give you his advice and wisdom on your ministry. I would also like prayers and advice because recently i got engaged to the youth pastor and music director in our church and i am looking for advice on how to be a supportive wife to this servant of God and understand my role in the ministry. The fact that he is a full time pastor means he is supported by the church for his upkeep, becomes as a challenge because i tend to take over the financial aspect of the relationship and sometimes i feel that he thinks i dont respect him as the future head of the family. I would like to be the help meant for him without him feeling like i use my financial status to challenge him or his capability.
Congratulations!!!
