No, because Moses and Elijah are coming back during the tribulation.
Look at Matthew 11:11-15, and then after reading this again. What do you make of this?
Who's Elijah Comeback???? Bhaahhahahahah Don't you just love my humor?

OK..........you've forced me to go back and read my bible. My reply may take a while but I will reply.

Love Sis A.K.A. HML
Jesus answered and said to them, "Indeed, Elijah is coming first* and will restore all things. Matt 17:11

The Bible is full of symbolism and metaphor. John the Baptist embodied the spirit of Elijah. This prophecy of Elijahs return was very important because John the Baptist's ministry was one of repentance.

That was the spirit of Elijah, repentance.

So what you are saying is John had Elijah's spirt?
I don't believe so. He was born of human parents and entered life like you and I. Since Christians do not embrace the dogma of reincarnation (other than the second coming of Christ) we would not support the premise of Elijah returning in another life.
perhaps it is the way it is worded Matthew 11:11-15, it is hard to really grasp. I know we don't accept reicarnation. I have looked at several different versions.
Maybe Jesus meant that John was THE Elijah that was spoke of by the Prophets.
All I know is, God can do anything so though we do not believe in reincarnation, to me perhaps, God can make happen what ever He wants.

Randi and John,

Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet Before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD. And he will turn The hearts of the fathers to the children, And the hearts of the children to their fathers, Lest I come and strike the earth with a curse." Mal 4:5-6

Maybe you both misunderstood me. The spirit of elijah is the spirit of repentance. This has nothing to do with reincarnation. Jesus plainly says that john was this prophecy fulfilled.

Let me put it this way. We are the image of Christ. We have His spirit dwelling within us yet we are not Christ Himself. We are being conformed to Christ's image daily.

I hope this helps,

James...........that last sentence says it all...........Good Insight!!!! Thank you
Well said. I was replying to Randi's original question with my first comment.

It is nice to share in a faith community as this one with minds that are being transformed into His image.
Thank God!
