I personally don't believe it was God that caused the earthquake in Haiti. I do know in the O.T. God often punished Israel when they sinned or "Did what they thought was right in their own eyes." One only has to recall the Babylonian conquest and captivity.

You can't help but wonder why the east side of the island, the Dominican Republic prospers and thrives while the west side, Haiti is in abject poverty. Maybe the fact that "Voodooism" is the national religion of the country has something to do with it. Maybe the country did sell its soul to the devil way back when. Bottom line is God will get the glory from this disaster whether He caused it or not. The entire world is now looking at this country and its people.

I agree with you, and I find it disturbing that Christian people have made such statements. Whether God has judged or not is surely irrelevant to us? Our duty now is to care for these people, with aid and prayer. Leave God's judgements to God.
