Next time an angry word is spoken to you answer it in anger and see what happens?

One evil is piled upon another.

Most people that get angry at other people are angered by someone two or three times down the line.

Or instead, the next time an angry word is spoken to you answer it in love and set off a different kind of chain reaction.

The temptation is to use the weapon of the wrong doer and fight with him blow for blow. “Don’t do it,” says Jesus – if you do (blow for blow) it will beget more blows.

Hate will beget more hate – a vicious circle.

Get out of it by using higher weapons – the weapons of “unquenchable love” which the Scripture calls “active resistance,” and reveals nothing but strength.
