I know some human doings, consumed with activities instead of their inner qualities driving their behavior.  The bible says to test everything.  Here we are in a new online forum.  I had to ask God if He was going to use this new 'activity' or not.  I went right into His presence and wanted to know HIS intentions.  After all, it's possible to spend a lot of time DOING this activity.  If there was a polling feature, I'd use it. That's a hard question. I guess if His will is done using whatever media, it's all good. Actually, I've never thought of that before...
Thank you Beryl :) I really do appreciate your response. As a former statistician, a sample size of 2 is very wobbly and yet, how disappointing it would have been to have no one answer.

I don't yet believe that my interests are so weird that no one else is curious about this.
Here's my response. Yes, I do perceive God's presence here (as evidenced by some very God-driven discussions in my group, people are being inspired to change and live in faith for Him so that others around them will see and want to know Him, too.)

As far as the possiblity of doing this activity and not being as "consumed with the inner qualities driving (our) behavior"...I believe this is absolutely a possibilty and moderation in the doing is absolutely necessary. Hence, why I have been hearing God speak to me recently about being still and resting and listening. Hence, why I didn't get on the computer at all this weekend and rather spent time with my family and my God.

Doing...anything, good or bad or just time-wasting and useless...doing is definitely a temptation and potentially a stumbling block, if not given to God, directed by God, and not "done" at all when necessary (if that makes sense).

Hope that contributes some to your bell curve! ;)
I am real new to this forum. Being that it is inspired by Max Lucado, I am going to have to believe that God will use this venue to expand his Glory and message. I have read several of Max's books and have 2 of his daily readers and the man sure seems to be divinely motivated. His words are inspiring and thought provoking. I find it hard to believe God would let this forum be corrupted or a waste of time. Anytime we spend in the word or prayer or fellow-shipping will produce good fruit and will ultimately be Blessed!!
Good to meet you, Todd and WELCOME! One of my traits is curiosity. I'm hoping to get to know you more as you are able. Of course, everyone has many committments. The hope is that coming to this online community builds you up and helps encourage you to be fully equipped in Him.
I think any activity has the potential to be about God or about 'doing', as you put it, and probably both at different times. All depends on what the people put in. Lol that probably makes me sound like a fence sitter, but honestly I do think that it's like church, a church is it's people, not a building or a service or a way of doing things. It's a community, and communities have good and bad. I guess we just need to pray and be vigilant that what we do here is for His glory and not for something to do or to sound clever or whatever.
True, Ronny! Greetings :) I agree. Thank you for your post. Since I have started this discussion, I've seen several instances of God working things out. Welcome!

I don't see you as a fence sitter. I have seen mixed situations where there was some disruption with positive results. What I want for this online community is more God activity than human activity.
That would be my pleasure. Yesterday I had the day off due to the snow and I spent a good portion of the day on this web site. So far I am very impressed and thankful for this new outlet to share my Faith and fellowship with others from all over the country. I look forward to getting to know you too!! Hope you had a Blessed day.

That is a very good thought there, in fact lately I have been wondering if all my doing was preventing me from developing my inner self. So for me to just per chance run into this post is causing me to think even deeper on this thought...

Yes I perceive God's presence here!
Hi Juline,
Yes I believe God uses any and all ways to reach everyone. When I think of your discussion topic the scripture
Matthew 5:16 comes to mind:
"In the same way let your light shine before men, that they may know your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven..."
I see that "light" here and when we our having these type of forums we can reach a multitude and just think about it for a moment there are so many various forums here that can help guide someone back to God, inspire and encourage others to keep their eyes focused on God, praying for the World, Prayer requests, as well as, studying His Word!

I love the factor that this is called a "community" which gives you a feeling of belonging and isn't that what Jesus did in his years of ministry? There was no where He wouldn't go to spread the word of His Father and we're called to model ourselves behind Jesus. Just from the responses I've seen in the various groups; this "community" reaches others and help calm the fears and/or worries that most Christians and Non-christians deal with on a day to day basis. I most definitely see God in the midst of this and many will be blessed and get to know the loving God that we all discuss on these various forums.

God Bless! : )
Hey Juline,
Yes I perceive God's prescence here. He is the one that gives you all those thoughts in your head....and you've had some good ones! God gives us the right to choose what we are going to do...which is where we need to listen and let God.
We are all sinners and some times we waste time when we should be doing things that are constructive.(I am guilty of that). Then I feel guilty for not getting anything done...where as if I'm doing something and get it done....I feel great about it. I have accomplished it. God wants us to work hard as well as to spread His Word.
I agree with Todd that anytime we spend in the Word or in prayer or in fellowshipping will produce good fruit and be blessed by the Almighty God Himself.
Precious Blessings to you.
Donna
Hey Todd,
Welcome to the community. I wanted to tell you that what you said in your reply, I completly agree with.... especially the part where you said "I find it hard to believe that God would let this forum be corrupted or a waste of time. Anytime we spend in the Word or prayer or fellow-shipping will produce good fruit and will ultimately be Blessed!
We need to do what God wants us to do and all of these things will be pleasing to God. Especially if we can bring just one person to God. Oh how happy He and ourselves would be.....and we can't do that without God's Word or prayer or fellow-ship.
Blessings to you,
Donna
